由爱白、北京纪安德咨询中心发起，多家机构联合主办的首届中国彩虹媒体奖12月9日在京发布，南方周末、凤凰卫视等获同志致敬媒体奖，李银河获特别贡献奖。知名学者、多位资深媒体人士出席了颁奖盛典。主办方介绍，中国彩虹媒体奖自2011年起，每年将举办一次。

期待改善性少数人群的舆论环境

“媒体是公众了解社会的窗口，多年来，同性恋人群出现在中国大众媒体上的形象常常是负面或扭曲的，大众媒体呈现的不客观报道会误导公众、加深社会对同性恋人群的偏见和歧视，进而影响到数千万中国同性恋者的生存环境。” 首届中国彩虹媒体奖执行主席杨洋说，“我们希望借该奖项评选的契机，建立起日常性的同志社区-大众媒体沟通平台，改善性少数人群的舆论环境。”

据主办方介绍，这是大陆地区首个综合性少数群体（包括男女同性恋/ 双性恋/ 跨性别）媒体奖，中国彩虹媒体奖旨在表彰中国大陆地区客观呈现、科学表达、包容对待性少数群体议题的各类报道、文化艺术作品，以及帮助推进、促成以上目标达成的机构与个人，实现大众传媒与性少数群体的对话和沟通，进而推进社会公众认识、理解和接纳性少数人群，倡导社会的包容、平等与和谐。

多位名人前往捧场

首届中国媒体彩虹奖共设作品奖、机构奖、人物奖三大类，作品奖终审结果由专业的评委评出，而同志致敬机构和致敬人物奖则由主办机构共同评出。经过多轮评选，最终《法治周末》记者杜晓采写的《我国首份女同性恋“家暴”调查报告出炉 问题不容忽视》、《南都周刊》记者洪鹄等采写的《爱人同志》封面系列报道、《凤凰卫视》制作的专题节目《与梦想同行》、网易女人频道制作的专题《女人来提案》，最终分获本次彩虹媒体奖最佳新闻报道报纸类、杂志类、电视类、网络类奖项。而《南方周末》、China Daily等获评同志致敬报纸。而多次就同性恋议题发表言论、多次为同志婚姻合法化提案的李银河教授获得主办方评出的特别贡献奖。

知名社会学家，首届中国彩虹媒体奖作品类终审评委之一李银河认为：“媒体是大众了解同性恋议题的重要平台，大众媒体的客观报道，对改善性少数人群的生存环境起着非常重要的作用。中国彩虹媒体奖的出现，除了鼓励大众传媒的积极报道，也能对媒体的不客观报道形成监督作用。”

除了多家主流媒体前来捧场报道以外，李银河、洪晃、程青松等人虽无法到场，但都录制了视频表达对首届彩虹媒体奖的祝福。

不一样的颁奖嘉宾

主办方特意安排了一位老年同性恋者“老巴黎”给“同志特别贡献奖”获得者李银河颁奖，72岁的老巴黎曾因同性恋倾向三次入狱，每次罪名都是流氓罪。如今的老巴黎与男友一起平静的生活。老巴黎坦然地告诉记者，“不管我入狱几次，我从来不觉得我有错。我没偷没抢，我没什么可认错的。” 老巴黎说要向李银河教授表达他最真诚的谢意，“我活了70多岁，现在是我最幸福最快乐的一段时光，这与李银河等人多年的工作密不可分。”

另一名颁奖嘉宾是61岁的退休工人藕姨，几年前她无论如何也想不到自己会与同性恋扯上关系。退休后藕姨学会了上网，并通过博客认识了一些同性恋者，她发现这个世界“并非都是男人爱女人，非黑即白，”她通过网络接受同性恋者的倾诉，并于今年结集出版《我的那些同志孩儿》一书，目前担任同性恋亲友会北京召集人。“老有人问我，你家里又没有同志，你为什么要参与？我觉得要改善大众对同性恋人群的偏见，需要更多的人站出来支持，无论是异性恋还是同性恋，我们都是普普通通的、平等的人嘛。”

据悉，本月下旬，首届彩虹媒体奖还将在上海颁发部分奖项。

Beijing, 9 December – First Edition of the China Rainbow Media Awards Announces Results

Initiated by the Aibai Culture & Education Center and the Beijing Gender Health Education Institute, and organized by a consortium of social organizations, the first annual China Rainbow Media Awards announced the winners on 9 December in Beijing. They include Southern Weekend & Phoenix TV (LGBT Salute Award) and Li Yinhe (Special Contribution Award). A host of well-known scholars and media figures attended the Award Ceremony.

Improving Public Opinion Regarding Sexual Minority Communities

“The media are the windows through which people look at society. For many years, Chinese mass media presented negative or distorted views of the gay community. The misleading reporting strengthened social prejudices and discrimination towards gay people and affected the living circumstances of millions of Chinese homosexuals.” says Yang Yang, Executive Chairwoman for this year’s China Rainbow Media Awards.

She continues: “We want to use the momentum generated by these Awards to build strong LGBT communities and to build a genuine platform of communication with the mass media. We hope to improve public opinion regarding sexual minority communities.”

The organizers pointed out that the China Rainbow Media Awards are the first Mainland Chinese Media Awards organized by and focused on sexual minority communities (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and others). The China Rainbow Media Awards recognize and honor news reports and cultural products for their objective, scientific and tolerant treatment of LGBT topics, and support and facilitate organizations and individuals who create such work. The China Rainbow Media Awards aim to bring about communication and dialogue between the mass media and sexual minority communities, to raise social awareness, understanding and acceptance regarding sexual minority communities, and to promote the social values of tolerance, equality and harmony.

Celebrity Support

The China Rainbow Media Awards honor works, institutions and individuals. While this year’s institution and individual winners were selected by the organizers themselves based on their contributions to the LGBT community, the award winning works were selected by an expert jury.

After several rounds of selection, the following works were honored:

• “ China’s first research report on domestic violence among lesbians indicates issues that can’t be ignored”, Du Xiao, Legal Weekly – Best news report / Newspaper Category

• “Homosexual Spouses” report series, Hong Hu et al., Southern Metropolis Weekly – Best news report / Magazine Category

• “The Loveless Marriages of China’s Gay Men’, Yang Dingdu et al., Xinhua News – Best news report / English Category

Southern Weekend and the China Daily, among others, won LGBT Salute Awards in the Newspaper Category, while Time Out and Southern Metropolis Weekly, among others, won LGBT Salute Awards in the Magazine Category. Dinah Gardner won an LGBT Salute Award for her columns in Time Out. And Dr. Li Yinhe, a well-known sociologist who spoke out many times on homosexuality and who submitted several proposals to legalize same-sex marriage, was awarded with the Special Contribution Award by the China Rainbow Media Awards organizers.

Li Yinhe, who also took part in this year’s China Rainbow Media Awards as a member of the award selection jury, could not be present at the Awards Ceremony but recorded a video expressing her support. She said: “The media form an important platform for people to learn more about homosexuality. Objective reporting by mass media plays a huge role in improving the living circumstances of sexual minorities. The China Rainbow Media Awards encourage mass media to actively report on LGBT issues. They also provide a measure of control against non-objective reporting by the media.”

Other celebrities, including Hong Huang and Cheng Qingsong, also recorded support videos that were shown at the Awards Ceremony to an audience that included a large number of Chinese mainstream media representatives.

The Award Presenters

The organizers invited an elderly gay man nicknamed Old Paris to present the Special Contribution Award to Li Yinhe.  Old Paris, who’s 72 years old, was jailed 3 times because of his homosexual orientation. He was convicted each time under the ‘hooliganism’ provision. Today he lives a quiet life together with his boyfriend. He says: “Although I went to prison several times, I never felt that I was wrong. I never stole anything, I never robbed anyone, and I never did anything that was wrong.” Expressing his sincere gratitude towards Li Yinhe, he says: “I’ve lived for more than 70 years and at this moment I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. That’s all because of the tireless work Li Yinhe and others have been doing for all these years.”

Auntie Ou was also invited to present an Award. She is a 61 year old retired worker who never thought she would be closely involved with LGBT people up until a few years ago. After retiring, Auntie Ou learned how to surf the internet and got to know some gay people on a blog site.  She discovered that “this world isn’t painted in black and white, and it doesn’t only contain men who love women”.  She provided a listening ear to many gay people, and collected her experiences in a book titled Those Gay Children of Mine which was published earlier this year. She is currently a member of the Beijing chapter of PFLAG China (Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays China). She says: “People always ask me why I support this cause even though there are no gay people in my own family. I feel that in order to improve the public opinion regarding homosexuals, more people have to step up, both hetero- and homosexuals. We’re all equals.”

At the Awards Ceremony, the organizers mentioned that this year’s China Rainbow Media Awards will hold another event in Shanghai at the end of this year, where more awards will be handed out.

我们的美丽的跨性别姐妹－北京美美 ，在2011年11月8日晚22时因长期遭受糖尿病    的折磨导致心脏衰竭，在辽宁丹东病世，享年42岁。长期以来美美的美轮美奂的演出深受北京同志社区喜爱和追逐，人们不会忘记她长期以来积极参与同志运动，她的精神和生活态度影响着她身边的每一个人，美美－我们不会忘记你。

出生于辽宁丹东的美美，虽生于男儿身，却是女娇娥。父母最初送她去学习当厨师，但她却一心追逐自己的梦想做一名歌手和艺人。她最初开始在丹东酒吧献唱，之后她开始慢慢的认识到化一些妆搭配上华丽的衣裳可以更受欢迎，就这样她很快加入了中国的变装皇后的队伍。

1994年她只身来到北京，最初她只是计划在北京做几场演出，但是当她探索到了北京同志社区的存在后，她决定留在北京发展。她通过美妙绝伦的表演抓住了北京人的心，开始在各种不同的酒吧，俱乐部以及同志募款晚会上演出。同时她也开始了自己的一家变装会所，给予想要变装的姐妹和想要加入反串表演的姐妹们专业培训。虽然她一直梦想有一天可以变性成为女人，因为糖尿病和经济的不宽裕使她无法实现这个梦想，但是这却从来没有成为接受自己的障碍。

2011年11月20号，在北京同志中心为“美美” 举行了一个悼念活动。在活动过程中，所有参加活动的人士分享了他们／她们和“美美”生活的相遇和相识。美美的勇敢就是骄傲的做她自己， 她义无反顾对同志社区和运动的支持以及她一直积极面对生活的逆境，都是我们永远珍惜的精神。

11月20日是世界跨性别纪念日， 是为了纪念因针对跨性别的憎恨或偏见而遭杀害的跨性别朋友们, 在这一天悼念美美非常合适，让我们不要忘记美美带给我们同志社区的点点滴滴的贡献，以及推动一个对跨性别更加友好宽容的社会的努力。

On 8 November 2011, our sister Mei Mei passed away.  Only 42 years old, she succumbed to the consequences of Diabetes, an ailment that had plagued her during her whole adult life.  She was loved and admired in the Beijing LGBT community for her fierce performing talent, her continuous engagement with the LGBT movement and her spirit & energy which lit up every room she entered.  She will be dearly missed.

Born in Dandong, Liaoning Province, she was given the body of a boy, yet she always treasured a female heart.  She was trained as a cook, but decided to follow her heart and pursue a career as a singer and performer.  She first got her start singing in her daily garb at Dandong clubs.  Realizing that she could be more successful when adding some make-up and fabulous clothes to the mix, she soon joined China’s drag queen ranks.

In 1994, she made her way to the bars of Beijing.  Though she originally just planned to do a couple of Beijing performances, she decided to make her life in China’s capital after discovering its gay community.  She found her way to the heart of many Beijingers performing at various clubs, bars and LGBT fundraising events.  She also opened her very own drag queen boutique, training a cohort of drag-curious people in the arts of the drag queen.  Though she was dreaming of a sex-change operation, both her diabetes and her limited resources kept her from doing so – it never prevented her however from always fully being who she was.

On 20 November 2011, the Beijing LGBT Center held a memorial in honor of Mei Mei.  In a moving ceremony, all participants shared stories of how Mei Mei inspired their lives.  Mei Mei’s courage to always be herself, her bright spirit which never waned in the face of adversity, her unconditional contribution to the Chinese LGBT movement and her overall loving attitude will for ever be cherished.

20 November marks the International Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day to memorialize those who have been killed as a result of transphobia and to bring attention to the continued violence endured by the transgender community.  It couldn’t have been a better moment to recognize and celebrate the contributions Mei Mei brought to China’s LGBT community, and to push for a more embracing society for trans-people.

2010年科隆世界同性恋已经举行了3天很多项目都在火热进行中。最 令人注目的是几个同性恋运动会特有的项目，双人舞，双人花样滑冰，啦啦队等比赛。

本届同性恋者 运动会吸引了来自全球约70个国家和地区的超过一万人报名参加， 加上到场参观开幕式的观众，总共有25000人在现场观看了开幕式。

公开为同性恋 者的德国副总理兼外长韦斯特维勒与同性伴侣一同出席了开幕式，韦斯特维勒还为运动会致开幕辞。在开幕式中，来自各国的团队身着各式服装入场，由8人组成的中国队受到了现场观众的热烈欢迎。曾获北京奥运会男子十米跳台跳水金牌的澳大利 亚运动员马修-米切姆代表所有参加者宣誓，运动会火炬在现场万人注目下被点燃。开幕式还安排了丰富的表演节目，来自瑞典的Agnes和美国的Taylor Dayne知名歌手激情献唱点燃了观众们的热情，所有人随音乐 一起热舞。

由 同性恋者 运动会联合会（FGG） 牵头组织 的第八届世界同性恋者运动会（Gay Games） 将于7月31日 至8月7日 在德国的 科隆市举办，将有来自约70个 国家和地 区的一万多名选手参加本届运动会的各项比赛。

本 届科隆世 界同性恋者运动会将 举行35个 项目的体 育比赛，其中不仅有田径、游泳和各项团体球类比赛，还包括保龄球、桥牌、国际象棋、自行车、花样滑冰、高尔夫球、网球、健美、武术、举重、马拉松、射击、 摔跤和乒乓球等项目。

世界同性恋者运动会已发展成综合性的大型体育比赛和文化盛会，今年的科隆运动会主办方将安排主题游览、莱茵河船上巡游、 狂欢派对、音乐会、艺术展等配合运动会的多种活动，各项活动将吸引来自各国的成千上万参加者和游客。

今年运动会的开幕式将于7月31日在科隆市知名的莱茵能量体育场举行，公开为同性恋者的德国副总理兼外交部长威斯特维勒将到场出席并宣布运动会开幕。根据主 办机构的安排，开幕式的内容将包括各国团队入场、击鼓表演、德国外长致开幕辞、运动员宣誓、火炬传递、各项表演以及歌手泰勒-戴恩（Taylor Dayne）演唱本届运动会的主题歌《面对奇迹》，预料现场观看开幕式的观众将有三万多人。

位于莱茵河畔的科隆是德国第四大城市，尽管同性恋者运动会是非官方的民间活动，但也得到科隆市政府的支持，科隆市长罗特 斯（Juergen Roters）已发出公开信欢迎全球各地的运动会来宾。

同志亦凡人有幸获邀成为唯一一家中国同志媒体现场报道全程的赛事，此外，一些知名运动员和演艺界人士担任了本届运动员的形象大使或将参与部分活动，今天下 午科隆同性恋运动会为形象大使召开记者招待会，来自德国的Agnes和美国的Taylor Dayne知名歌手，以及世界著名公开身份的同性恋运动员，有来自澳大利亚的北京奥运跳水冠军马修（Matthew Mitcham），来自伦敦的前NBA篮球运动员John Amaechi, 来自南非著名篮球运动员 Leigh Ann Naidoo和来自澳大利亚的自行车运动员Michelle Ferris，所有大使表示同性恋运动会是一个提供给更多同志运动员有平等参与竞赛的平台。

这也是首次同志亦凡人全体工作人员出国参 加国际活动。

最上镜先生和最佳泳装先生，来自俄罗斯的选手 David Baramiya 25岁. 小呆最喜欢的选手，一个晚上都在说他有多可爱，已经有男朋友了，是来自西班牙的选手，也是今年的第五名，我们还看到了一些他和他男朋友亲热的照片，很想贴出来一张，但是怕又一次艳照门。

David Baramiya from Russia won the Mr. Gay Swimwear Prize and the Mr. Gay Photogenic Prize. David Baramiya was Xiao Dai’s personal favourite. Unfortunately however, this cutie already has a boyfriend: the Spanish delegate Sergio Lara who ended up being Fourth Runner Up.

最佳民族服装奖来自香港的选手 Rick Dean Twombley 33岁: “别问我是什么民族，我也不知道”. 他是香港同性恋先生，但是不是香港人，香港真国际！

Rick Dean Twombley (33) from Hong Kong won the Prize for National Costume, which took him by surprise: “Don’t ask me about my nationality, I’m confused myself.” Rick is Mister Gay Hong Kong but he’s not from Hong Kong. It goes to show that Hong Kong is a truly international city!

本地英雄人物奖来自挪威的选手 Walter Heidkampf 50岁. 最让人敬佩的一位选手，他是今年参赛选手中年龄最长的一位，也是一位公开的艾滋病感染者，一直致力于艾滋病预防工作。

The Local Hero Award went to 50-year-old Walter Heidkampf from Norway. Walter is a true hero: the oldest participant in the competition, he’s open about his HIV positive status and dedicates his life to supporting the LGBT community regarding issues of HIV health and education.

For the first time, China had a delegate participating in the Worldwide Mister Gay Competition. He made us all proud with his spectacular Fourth Place!

In the past few years as a lesbian activist in the Beijing LGBT scene, a few gay friends asked me to marry them, some jokingly and a few seriously. As one of them were very persistent in me guising as his potential fiancée, I eventually yielded to his constant phone calls and presents. I went with him to visit his family in Tianjin as his girlfriend. Unsurprisingly, his family loved me. Being the only child of the family, he was under a lot of pressure to get married at the age of twenty five.

Green as I was in meeting the parents, I was astounded when his mother asked me after 20 minutes I walked in their house, when I planned to marry his son! After the first encounter, she tried to call me and see me from time to time. She even deliberately said to me that I would “soon be too old to get married”. Soon afterward, I decided to “break it up” because I couldn’t handle the expectations of loving parents’ in their imaginary daughter-in-law.

Marriage is always a huge problem for Chinese LGBT people. Marrying a person of the other sex and making babies are the paramount duties for every one of us, gay or straight. In our long history, there were stories of Chinese gay lifestyle. But our queer predecessors all had a heterosexual marriage, and of course, children. Our morality father Confucius terrorized generations of Chinese people that “the worst unfilial is to have no descendants”. Until the one child policy, Chinese women were almost like baby factories. And to make sure the purity of descendants, marriage is the foundation to punish any out-of-wedlock sexual activities.

Last Friday I was sitting on a dinner table with my lesbian friends and two gay guys who were introduced to me by a close friend. I was the matchmaker for these two gay couples. The femme needs a fake boyfriend and the straight-looking gay guy needs a wife to play the game “I’m dating so stop introducing me to women/men.” For the fake couple (the lesbian and the gay man), fake marriage seems to be the only way out from the haunting parents.

But finding the Mr. or Mrs. Fake Right is not a simple task. My lesbian friend went interviewing three other gay guys before my fix. Her partner and she were quite picky with the guy’s family background, appearance, etiquette, taste, etc. She is quite tall so the earlier three Mr. Fake Right failed in the height department. Lucky, my guy is tall enough for her so there was a second dinner. On the other hand, my guy also had his requirements for his Mrs. Fake Right. He wants her beautiful, amiable, independent, reasonable (so she won’t blackmail him some day), etc.

Yes, they are finding a fake partner that conforms to social norms. And with the closeted elements, fake marriage match making is nothing easier, if not harder, than common ones.

Mr. and Mrs. Fake Right are now urging me to start a matching making service for people like them. 99 percent of the Chinese LGBT people have to deal with marriage pressure some time in their lives. A lot of them knew no other way out so they married a straight partner and live a life of unhappiness. Fake marriage is gaining momentum for the younger generation as it seems to be a win-win middle ground.

Even though I am still not 100 percent supportive of the idea, I helped my friends with their immediate need. I’m lucky enough to have a family who leave me alone with my decisions in life. Many of my peers don’t. I think any faking would fall apart sooner or later, but some compromises might give us more time and room to shape a future that we really want. Fake marriage, or some would call it pretend marriage, is now a logical alternative.
