今天是全国哀悼日,在这里我们为所有在四川大地震中遇难的教师和学生表示最深切的哀悼! 儒家的老祖宗孔老夫子被尊称为“万代师表”，或许他老人家很难想象当今社会的园丁们面临着更复杂的教育问题。在我们这个文明国度，对学生接受自我和他人不同性取向的问题，同志教师的出柜是可以给与支持。但是面对对于同志人群的歧视，教师公开自己的身份更是难上加难？这不但需要他们的勇气，也需要主流社会不再持有偏见。瘦削的身影，灵活的话语，这是我最初对小安老师的印象。老师天性中的自信沉稳，侃侃而谈的风格，给他的的人生故事增添了一份精彩。同时我们也采访到两位在中国任教的外国友人，听听他们做为同志教师的个人经历。
Today is the last day of the national mourning period – here we would like to express our deepest grief, condolences ad support for all those affected by the Sichuan earthquake, in particular the brave teachers.
Confucius was commonly known as the teacher of a thousand generations… but even he must have found it hard to imagine the complex education problems faced by today’s teachers, or “Gardeners”, as we liked to call them.
In our current climate, a teacher coming out of the closet could be very valuable in providing the support and understanding for students who are confused about their own sexual orientation, or that of their friends. But in many ways it is harder and more complicated for a teacher to be open about his homosexuality, due to the nature of his/her work and the community he/she exists in… it will require great courage, and a significant shift in the conservative, and often discriminatory views of mainstream society.
In our next episode we are pleased to have Teacher Xiao An with us. A wonderfully expressive and eloquent person, his confidence and a lovely, cultured, “teacherly” style of speaking made for a highly enjoyable and rich interview with him as he shares his views and stories as a gay Teacher.
In this episode we have also invited 2 foreign friends teaching in China to share their personal experiences as gay teachers in this community.
