2009年算得上是中国同志运动的丰收年，从立春时前门大街的同性婚纱照，闹得前门水泄不通；到首届性别艺术展，召集到千奇百怪的酷儿艺术家挥洒热情；到第四届北京酷儿影展，首次汇集到两岸三地的酷儿影像制造者；再到盛夏上海骄傲行，虽说走的不多，可宣传到位，中国的同志以不同的形式抢占了各种媒体的眼球。然而同时荣登社会和体育版的同志事件，那要数中国首次有代表团参加的2009年8月在丹麦哥本哈根举行的世界同性恋运动会，参赛人数不到十人的中国队在本届运动会中获得了1金1铜的好成绩，在国内各大网站也引起了“中国同志得的金牌算不算金牌”的争论。本期同志亦凡人全程记录了本次运动会，不但采访到了金牌运动员，也有幸采访到了全世界第一对注册登记的女同志和男同志伴侣。他们/她们是人类权利改善的见证和榜样。这也体现了本次运动会的口号“热爱自由，自由的爱”，因为自由让我们能够没有恐惧和歧视的拥有我们的爱情生活和性生活。
So far, 2009 has been a great year for the queer community in China. Thousands of people gaped at the beautiful female and male couples getting married in Qianmen, the first Chinese Art Exhibit on Gender Diversity was a successful creative forum for a wild bunch of queer artists, the 4th Beijing Queer Film Festival for the first time showcased queer talent from greater China as filmmakers from Taiwan and Hong Kong also joined in the feast and the Shanghai Pride caught the attention of both foreign and domestic media.
The China comrades are stepping up! And they’re catching headlines not only with their activities in the home country, but also with their achievements in the outside world.
For the first time, there was a Chinese delegation present at the Outgames, which were held August this year in Copenhagen, Denmark. Although the Chinese delegation counted less than 10 people, they managed to win 1 gold and 1 bronze medal. It was reason enough for the Chinese mainstream media to start a nation-wide debate on whether a ‘gay gold medal’ should count as a gold medal or not.

We have a ton of behind-the-scenes footage, highlighting not only the gay medalists but also LGBT-pioneers like former NBA-player John Amaechi and the first female couple to enter a same-sex partnership registration.
